✗—Personality;
'Apathy Apache' - the epithet says it all; Geval Verlaat is cold to the extent that his indifference can sometimes be mistaken for catatonia: the marine barely responds to any sort of stimulus anymore. Offensive comments? Stern, tight-lipped neutral expression. Declaration of grand ideals? Stern, tight-lipped neutral expression. He is a no nonsense man and apparently emotions are nonsense. His eyes hold no soul, his breath carries no vigour. He breathes like a tree unstirred; so silent, so still, so detached from the goings on of the world that just being around Geval can be unnerving. However, he is not as comatose as he makes out to be on first impressions: Geval is sharp as a tack. He knows exactly where the fly that landed on his nose is, how far away and to which direction it buzzed, the force required from a swift lift of the back of the hand and thrust into airborne body in order to render said fly dead before it hits the ground.
He is cold and calculating, often spending his soundless vigils deconstructing and analysing the moves made by others. Usually he searches for motives and possible goals and outcomes. Geval is a man who likes to be as prepared as possible for as much as possible, and so during fights and verbal stand-offs does nothing until everything is accounted for. For some reason this only annoys other people - though if he were capable of sympathising with someone who had had the wind taken out of their sails mid-parade then perhaps Geval would understand why. Alas, he is not: empathy seems to be totally removed from the marine; when presented with a sob story, Geval simply moves on - often not even giving any explanations any chance.
He is a man of action, preferring to let his acts do the talking rather than his mouth. Geval has been known to walk off during demonstrations and explanations and others' analysis. He is very intelligent, and likely the reason is that he's figured out everything you had to say, or drawn his own conclusions through the information you've presented. Impulsive as he is Verlaat invokes his spontaneity in a controlled fashion, as paradoxical as that may sound; never does he run off to investigate his hunch, never does he voice loud and brash outbursts. Rather he is a firm believer in slow and steady winning the race - at least when said race is run by him, anyway.
Behind the rigor mortis exterior the marine is a rather morose and negative person. While he tends to calculate and compensate for predicted consequences, Geval is a pessimist: ever since Scarborough the brighter side of life is dim, and the darker side of life is pitch black. There is no hope in Geval's world; he just keeps going because he just keeps going: the cycle goes on and on and on, the freakshow of ethics and stark humanity plays forever. His beliefs often come under fire for this; since his motive is to reform the justice system of the World Government so that there is little or, ideally, no collusion and corruption it would seem to imply that there must be some fragment of hope lodged in the Apathy Apache's brain somewhere. However the marine himself gives no answer to this - it's something to aim for, in the end.
Overall he is a soul forsaken by his wanderlust and left a stoic statue as a result: Geval Verlaat is a solemn man indeed.
✗—Appearance;
Geval Verlaat strikes an imposing figure when standing at full height: the marine is tall, reaching a lofty six feet and eight inches. His posture is perfectly straight and rigid-looking, which isn't too far from the truth: Geval is not a flexible man in both personality and movement. He is quite heavily muscled, having guns enough to compete with most narcissists. His skin is of an odd pallor; Geval tans really rather easily and so at times can appear dark skinned, though his true skin tone is much whiter than that. This causes people to mistake him for having mixed heritage.
Verlaat has long brown dreadlocks held back by a headband. His hair comes down far enough to touch the mid-upper part of his back, hanging just below his shoulder blades. The marine has empty blue eyes that are slightly disconcerting should he stare at you enough; the apparent lack of a soul is enough to disturb even the most hardened of men.
He wears a tight black t-shirt that reveals the outlines of his rock-hard abs and bulging muscles. This is underneath a dark grey trench coat that has the sleeves cut off and a high collar, that is also bullet resistant and really rather heavy. Geval has rugged khakis over his legs as well as large tough combat boots. He dresses like a mercenary despite the fact he is a prominent marine captain, though they say appearances are everything and the Apathy Apache's is certainly very intimidating.
In the belt straps of Geval's trousers a pouch is kept that contains various items. Affixed to the pouch is a strap for a large, sharp knife.
More distinguishing, however, is the array of restraining accessories Geval has scattered on his person. His belt is really a large cuff; around his wrists are two large steel handcuffs (with the other cuff removed); around his neck is another collar, complete with chain and finally around his legs are two cuffs also. The marine is extremely skilled in removing them at high speeds and affixing them to other things, as well as just himself. All of the cuffs are made from steel and weigh him down quite a lot, though his immense strength makes up for it.

✗—Fighting Style;
O Fisti-cuffs -- Geval has a bit of a thing for restriction and incapacitation. Being tied down and buried by oppression is something he openly finds very poetic, and is reflected in the way he deals with pirates. Leaning towards pacifism, the marine nearly always takes his targets in alive. Utilising his array of restraining devices on his person Geval debilitates the target.
O Absolute Brute -- Geval is strong. Really strong; his punches are freight trains. Often it has been said that Verlaat could just get on with his might alone, though somehow he manages not to just crush everyone he meets. Geval is strong enough to punch through stone, and can bring down walls with ease.
✗—Normal Weapons;
[/color] Kestrel -- The name of Geval's dagger. Kestrel is a large, sharp knife forged from tempered steel; it is very durable and the one thing you don't want to have jabbed clean through your mid-riff. Its hilt has a pale red gradient that reminded the marine of the bird, hence its name. [/ul][/blockquote]
✗—Normal Character Abilities;
O Castro [f] -- Geval thrusts his arm next to an opponent's head, quickly unlocking the cuff on his wrist and clamping it to them. The shock of the first cuff landing normally leaves them open for the others to go on, resulting in an incapacitated opponent.
O Duvalier [f] -- Geval cuffs something with one of his chains before reeling it in. His immense strength means that most anything can be pulled in.
O Pinochet [f] -- Geval slashes something with his dagger with extreme force, often wrecking the target of his move beyond repair. The force behind the strike is such that he doesn't have to waste time finding the reave of a sail before shredding it.
O Tito [f] -- Geval quickly cuffs something in multiple places, then pulls on all the chains of the cuffs at once, ripping the object apart.
